The Werksviertel behind the Ostbahnhof is one of the most interesting new development areas in the city and has already won several architectural awards. Living and working in a new city district also has a lot to do with gastronomy. A lot has already been created, especially in the Werksviertel, and there is more to come. In the new section “iCampus” there are a few new gastronomic concepts at the start.
The creators promise full-bodied: “This is where business is lived that is ahead of its time.” From a gastronomic point of view, however, they still adhere to very current trends. There is a Dean & Davidbranch (vegetarian and vegan), an Italian named Magari and soon a Vietnamese restaurant by the name Ngocha107, an offshoot of the Ngocha restaurant in Pasing. Next year it will be regional in the i8, which will be Munich’s first office building in wood hybrid construction. On the ground floor, the siblings want Portenlänger, known for its organic restaurant Old innkeeper Grünwald and that Xavier Open a regional organic restaurant on Rumfordstrasse on around 500 square meters. This is likely to still be the trend in 2025.
Two very different dates on the topic of “wine” coincidentally coincide in the calendar at the weekend. There would be the big public fair Wine Munich Spring on the Prater Island. Around 900 wines are presented there. These are primarily the freshly bottled wines from the 2023 vintage. “The focus is on the white summer wines for the asparagus and terrace season,” say the organizers. On the other hand, they are extremely exclusive Open days in the new private wine club Yours Wine Club by Brigitte and Thomas Zwink – the two of them used to run the Dorfwirt in Unterammergau – at Ludwigstrasse 10. It will officially open on April 6th, after which wealthy wine lovers can meet there around the clock to taste and enjoy together – if they pay a monthly fee of at least 189 euros. So you won’t be able to get back in as cheaply as this weekend.
