Weihenstephan University: Eating apples despite an apple allergy – Freising

More and more people are allergic to apples. A research project has now found two varieties that are also suitable for allergy sufferers. When they will be on the market and why birch pollen allergy sufferers are affected more often.

It could well be that many people who are allergic to apples will find two new varieties on the supermarket shelves in a few years that they tolerate well. Their names: “ZIN 168” and “ZIN 186”. This is thanks to a successful research project in which the Technical University of Munich (TUM) is also involved. Wilfried Schwab and his team in Weihenstephan were responsible for the analytical examination of selected varieties of the tasty fruit.
