The atmosphere is not heating up evenly: while the layers near the Earth heat up, temperatures in the layers above fall. This has consequences for our weather, for the ozone layer and, for example, for satellites.
The atmosphere cools down. Yes, that’s right: she’s cooling down. Not the lower atmosphere in which our weather takes place, no: this is warming up as a result of climate change, as most of us should know. But the same gases responsible for global warming near the Earth’s surface are causing dramatic cooling of the overlying layers of the gas envelope that surrounds the Earth.
