“We have to return, that’s our territory,” says the Chechen ruler over German territory. He is unimpressed by a possible confrontation with NATO.

Chechen ruler Ramzan Kadyrov has threatened the return of Russian occupation troops to German territory in view of Western tank deliveries to Ukraine. “We have to return, this is our territory,” Kadyrov said, referring to the Soviet occupation, in an interview on Russian state television, which was available on Wednesday on the website of the propaganda program “60 Minutes”.

Chancellor Olaf Scholz must be “sniffed” for his statements about Russia, said the leader of the Russian republic of Chechnya in the North Caucasus, who is active in Ukraine with his own troops.

Most recently, Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin sharply criticized the fact that German tanks would soon be firing at Russian soldiers for the first time since World War II. He threatened not only to use tank technology against the attackers as a reply.

Kadyrov: “We will win and destroy them”

According to Kadyrov, the withdrawal of Soviet troops from the territory of the former GDR in the 1990s was a mistake. Those responsible, such as former President Mikhail Gorbachev, who died last year, should have been punished as “traitors,” said the 46-year-old. Only by stationing troops would the Germans understand their place in the hierarchy, Kadyrov said in the interview, which was recorded outdoors in the dark. He was unimpressed by a possible confrontation with NATO or an impending nuclear war. He’s not afraid of that. “We will win and destroy them,” he said.

Even after almost a year, Russia has not achieved its goals in its war of aggression against Ukraine and suffered several military defeats. Despite this, Kadyrov was confident that he could defeat Ukraine by the end of the year and conquer important cities such as Kiev, Kharkiv and Odessa. Kadyrov called on Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to shoot himself because he had brought suffering and death to his people. Human rights activists, on the other hand, accuse Kadyrov of ruling with Putin’s blessing in the Russian republic of Chechnya with dictatorial power and of having his opponents tortured and murdered.
