An event by the AfD parliamentary group with constitutional lawyer Ulrich Vosgerau took place in Hamburg City Hall on Thursday evening. He was a participant in the Potsdam meeting at which deportation plans for German citizens with a migration background were said to have been discussed.
In front of several hundred guests, Vosgerau described his view of things and spoke of a “media scandal without any substance.” The evening in the town hall was titled “What really happened in Potsdam? A participant reports!” In November, AfD officials took part in a meeting in Potsdam with the leader of the right-wing extremist Identitarian movement, Martin Sellner. At the meeting, so-called remigration was said to have been discussed, i.e. the mass expulsion of people with a migration background. About it The research network “Correctiv” reported.
Vosgerau had sued against reporting
From the AfD’s perspective, the reporting on the “private meeting” is largely false and has led to a media hunt against the party. Vosgerau has already taken legal action against “Correctiv’s” reporting on the meeting, but was unsuccessful on two out of three points before the Hamburg Regional Court.
Ban mile around the town hall – demo in front of it
In the early evening, demonstrators gathered near the town hall.
Because of the AfD event, the Hamburg town hall was cordoned off by the police. A few hundred demonstrators gathered on the edge of the ban mile around the town hall in the evening to protest against Vosgerau’s appearance. Initially, some demonstrators wanted to gather on the town hall market, but were expelled from the square by the police. A single protester made it over the barrier and got into the anteroom of the town hall hall, where he was then stopped by officers.
