Vitalik Buterin Reveals Why He Only Stakes ‘Little’ ETH

Ethereum Co-Founder Vitalik Buterin Says He Didn’t Stake All of His Ether The reason is because Multisig wallets are so “complicated” that they are “quite difficult” to set up.

On the June 29 episode of the podcast,BanklessButerin has revealed the “biggest reason” why he only stakes ‘a small percentage’ of ETH.

“The reason is because if you stake ETH, the keys that can be accessed must be publicly available in the online subsystem, and with multisig wallets for security, staking is quite difficult to set up and complicated.”

Charles Hoskinson, Ethereum co-founder and founder of Cardano, tweeted on Twitter on June 30 stating that he “Speechless” after hearing the Buterin stake only a tiny portion of his Ether.

Buterin also discussed the EigenLayer protocol, which allows Ethereum validators and stakers to “re-stake” their assets on other emerging networks.

Even though it’s only in the network test phase. which isn’t expected to launch until the third quarter of 2023. Buterin said the main challenge is building. “The risk of centralization,” stating: “A trusted staker will get more value from the system than a dishonest staker.”

EigenLayer founder Sreeram Kaanan explains that there are “complicated risks” to re-stakes, and it’s important to use them. “A limited approach to creating re-stakes.”
