Özdemir wins power struggle for ministerial posts

In a power struggle among the Greens for ministerial posts in the federal government, the former party leader Cem Özdemir prevailed against parliamentary group leader Anton Hofreiter. The federal board unanimously decided on Thursday the personnel table, according to which Özdemir should become Minister of Agriculture. So the parliamentary group chairmen Hofreiter and Katrin Göring-Eckardt go away empty-handed. Since the realpolitician Özdemir, with the support of party chairmen Annalena Baerbock and Robert Habeck, ousted the party left Hofreiter, a party left was named for the family ministry with the nationwide widely unknown Rhineland-Palatinate Anne Spiegel. Baerbock is to become Germany’s first female foreign minister, Habeck minister for economics and climate protection and vice chancellor. Actually, the Greens wanted to introduce their staff in the afternoon and thus start their ballot on the coalition agreement. But that had been delayed. The online ballot will now begin on Friday. It should end on December 6th with the announcement of the results.
