Video: Migration: Mexican police find more than 340 people in trucks

STORY: When Mexican police officers opened the back of this truck on Sunday, they made a disturbing discovery. Officials found 103 unaccompanied minors in an abandoned truck in the Mexican state of Veracruz. According to the Mexican authorities, most of the young people are from Guatemala. There were also 212 adults from Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Ecuador in the semi-trailer. 28 migrants were traveling with relatives. A total of 343 people were crammed into the trucks. The semitrailer was discovered on a highway, and there was initially no trace of the driver, the National Institute for Migration said. The closed container was equipped with fans, ventilation devices and a second floor. This would have allowed people to be accommodated on two levels. The children were placed in the care of Veracruz authorities. They were initially in the process of clarifying the residence status of the other migrants, it said. Thousands of migrants, mainly from Central America, try to escape poverty and violence every year and make their way to the USA.
