Video: Floods displace tens of thousands in Malaysia

STORY: Several people died in severe flooding in Malaysia. Almost 40,000 people had to leave their homes because of the floods in the state of Johor, the authorities said on Saturday. Days of continuous rain had led to the floods. According to the National Disaster Management Agency, more than 200 shelters have been opened. Flooding is commonplace in Malaysia during the annual monsoon season between October and March. While Johor, which borders Singapore, is among the worst-hit states, flooding has also displaced hundreds of people in other regions. The national weather service warned of further rain in the coming days, which is said to affect southern Malaysia in particular.
