Already largely heckled by the Covid-19 crisis, the Vieilles Charrues festival played the safety card by programming many French artists, avoiding the hassle of closed borders and quarantines to be respected. On the bill: Vianney, Yseult, Hervé, Woodkid, The Avener, Benjamin Biolay, Gaël Faye, Raphaël, Feu! Chatterton, Prudence, Philippe Katerine, L’Impératrice, Catherine Ringer, who will sing the duet of Rita Mitsuko, Yelle, Pomme or even Ben Mazué and Stephan Eicher.
The biggest festival in France will take place over ten evenings from July 8 to 18 and on a single stage. “This program includes headliners, discoveries, favorites and all styles of music,” says Jérôme Tréhorel, director of the festival based in Carhaix (Finistère).
The first day will thus open with the mayola pop of the Reunionese singer Maya Kamaty, will follow the Greek polyphonies of Marina Satti before giving way to the successful singer Vianney. While the last edition, in 2019, welcomed 270,000 people over four days, the organizers worked this year on a new device, seated, with a limit of 5,000 people, hosted during ten evenings of concerts. “Inventing a new festival in a few weeks is a tour de force,” said Jérôme Tréhorel. “We have completely changed everything on the site,” he said, explaining that it was also “to surprise the public”.

One of the only festivals maintained
The 30 artists announced, against 80 usually, will perform during these ten evenings on a new stage installed in front of the castle of the vast plain of Kerampuilh, where the festival is usually held around four stages. A parterre will be able to accommodate 2,500 people seated, while three large terraces forming an amphitheater will be able to accommodate as many.
The ticket office will open on June 2 exclusively on the event website. The Vieilles Charrues are one of the rare large French festivals of the summer, in current music, with the Printemps de Bourges and the Francofolies, to be held this year, others like the Eurockéennes or Hellfest having given up due to health constraints. .
