The former national soccer goalkeeper Timo Hildebrand can well imagine that Michael Wimmer will remain coach of the Bundesliga club even after VfB Stuttgart has separated from sports director Sven Mislintat.

“I think he did a good job,” said the 43-year-old of the German Press Agency. In the six Bundesliga games, the interim coach has achieved a “reasonable number of points” for the situation with three home wins and a total of nine points.

However, he did not want to give any advice to those responsible for CEO Alexander Wehrle, and he did not know the internals of the club, said Hildebrand.

VfB and Mislintat parted ways with immediate effect on November 30 after the 50-year-old sporting director failed to accept a new contract offer. His previous contract would have expired on June 30, 2023. Wimmer has lost a prominent advocate in the club, but it cannot be ruled out that he will continue to coach the team. However, an external solution could also be considered.
