Surprise in the Telekom tariff dispute: There were actually only supposed to be warning strikes in customer service starting tomorrow, but now ver.di has already called for one for today. The union wants a clear increase in wages.

In the collective bargaining dispute at Deutsche Telekom, the ver.di union is launching warning strikes in customer service nationwide starting today. Since the start of the morning shift at 6 a.m., employees have been asked to stop work for the entire shift.

Ver.di had previously announced a “full-shift” work stoppage for Monday. The strike should continue tomorrow and Tuesday – parallel to the fourth round of negotiations scheduled for Potsdam. A central rally with 4,500 employees is planned there.

The union had already organized warning strikes at Telekom on Monday and Tuesday last week. According to ver.di, 13,000 employees took part on both days. There were “enormous” waiting times in customer service. Technician appointments were canceled and some Telekom shops remained closed.

Ver.di wants an increase of twelve percent

Ver.di is demanding an increase in income of twelve percent for around 70,000 collective bargaining employees, but at least by 400 euros per month. The collective agreement should have a term of twelve months.

Telekom recently offered to increase salaries by 4.2 percent from 2025. This year there will be a tax-free inflation compensation bonus of 2,000 euros. Ver.di rejected the offer as inadequate.
