Vaccination obligation: What Markus Söder understood – opinion

Mandatory vaccination for healthcare workers is not practical at this time. Bavaria’s Prime Minister has good reasons to suspend them. And yet there is a crucial counter-argument.

Markus Söder’s decision to stop compulsory vaccination for doctors, nurses and hospital cooks “for the time being” may seem gimmicky and selfish. After all, the Union faction had approved the project in December. And yet he is right: compulsory vaccination cannot begin in mid-March as planned. Because the health authorities that have been chosen for the enforcement can hardly do their actual work. Too many are infected at the moment, contacts can only be traced with difficulty.
