As a biathlete, she was world champion eight times and won nine Olympic medals. Today, Uschi Disl lives with her family in Mora, Sweden. Her look back on her career is mixed.
Ms. Disl, is your Swedish perfect now?
At least good enough for me to work for Swedish radio. I’ve lived in Sweden for twelve years, we speak mostly Swedish in the family.
How did you get into radio?
The sports editors asked me if I would like to comment on the biathlon races. In Sweden there aren’t that many ex-biathletes who could do it. Now I report directly on site or from the studio in Stockholm. Ultimately, where I am doesn’t make much of a difference: I look at a screen every time and comment on the races.
