Things are not going well for Republican Trump rival DeSantis. Now he is rebuilding his campaign team again. Previously, he had already fired a third of his team.

The contender for the Republican presidential nomination and Trump competitor Ron DeSantis continues to rebuild his campaign team. DeSantis’ chief of staff as Florida Governor James Uthmeier will direct the campaign from now on, a campaign spokesman said. Uthmeier replaces Genra Peck, who should remain on board as a strategy consultant. Also new is Uthmeier’s future deputy, David Polyansky, who has already worked for US Senator Ted Cruz.

Biggest Trump opponent – but far behind

DeSantis is considered the biggest internal party competitor for Donald Trump, who also wants to become a Republican candidate. However, DeSantis’ campaign has not been going well so far – in a survey by the Reuters news agency, DeSantis was 13 percent, far behind Trump’s 47 percent. Because of financial problems, DeSantis has already laid off about 40 employees of its campaign team, a third of the workforce.

Trump followed up on the Internet on Tuesday and dubbed DeSantis with a neologism of “sanctiomonious” – “hypocritical” – and DeSantis’ name: “DeSanctimonious crashes!” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social.

On August 23 there should be a first public meeting of the Republican candidate candidates – however, Trump does not want to take part. The criticism of the remaining applicants could then focus on DeSantis.
