On Tuesday there were Democratic and Republican primaries in 15 of 50 states. The so-called Super Tuesday is an important milestone in the US election year 2024: Everything points to a new edition of the duel between Trump and Biden.
Among the Republicans, Trump is still fighting an internal party duel with the former US ambassador to the United Nations, Nikki Haley, but the ex-president is far in the lead. She might give up after this day. Biden is up against two largely unknown party colleagues, and the only thing that could be a problem for him is voter turnout.
Democrats: Damage to Biden in American Samoa
Things are currently looking good for both of them: US President Joe Biden has the Democratic primary in the states Iowa, Virginia, Vermont, North Carolina, Tennessee, Maine, Alabama, Massachusetts, Texas, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Utah, Oklahoma and California won. Republicans: Trump is ahead almost everywhere
According to the broadcaster, Donald Trump is in favor of the Republicans North Carolina, Virginia, Oklahoma, Texas, Maine, Arkansas, Massachusetts, Alabama, Minnesota, Massachusetts, Tennessee and California – and also in Colorado front. In Colorado it was still unclear until a day ago whether he would even be allowed to compete there. This means he can significantly expand his lead over Haley.
Republican: Haley wins in Vermont
Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley can claim her second victory in a duel against former President Donald Trump. She wins at state Vermont, as the AP news agency reported, citing its own forecasts. In fact, Trump and Haley were neck and neck in the state of Vermont. Also in suburbs and near college campuses in Virginia and North Carolina Haley was ahead. So the party is not completely united behind Trump. But what should worry him is that, according to CNN, a majority of voters who cast their vote for Haley do not want to automatically vote for Trump if their favorite candidate drops out of the race soon.

In addition, the data provider Edison Research announced on Tuesday that 40 percent of participants in the Republican primary in Virginia believe that Trump would no longer be suitable for the presidency if he were found guilty in one of the many ongoing cases against him. In North Carolina it was 32 percent and in California it was 23 percent. Virginia holds open primaries in which any voter can vote for any party, according to Ballotpedia. Therefore, Democrats could also be included in the sample. There are currently several lawsuits underway against Trump, including for election fraud.
However, this has so far had no impact on the results of Super Tuesday; Trump and Biden are winning in state after state. In California, it is still being decided who will be able to succeed the late Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein in November.
