Taylor Swift is insurmountable in the USA – not even Martin Scorsese and his star line-up can get past “The Eras Tour”.

Anyone who is still wondering what appeal pop star Taylor Swift (33) has in the USA will find this impressively demonstrated by looking at the official cinema figures. Because even old master Martin Scorsese (80) and his ensemble of absolute Hollywood greats came According to “Variety”, the singer couldn’t get past the singer: Although Scorsese’s new epic “Killers of the Flower Moon” grossed a strong $23 million on its opening weekend in North America, Swift’s concert film “The Eras Tour” secured first place by a huge margin.

It brought in another $31 million, making it the first concert film in cinema history to secure top spot in the US charts on two consecutive weekends. Another milestone for Swift: “The Eras Tour” has now grossed an incredible 130 million US dollars on the domestic market – so far no concert film there has ever surpassed the 100 million mark. Revenues amount worldwide according to “Box Office Mojo” now to around 160 million US dollars.

Scorsese can still be happy

But Scorsese shouldn’t be too sad. Because “Killers of the Flower Moon” had the best start since his thriller “Shutter Island” from 2010, which brought a whopping $41 million into the box office in the same period. In fact, it’s the third-best start of his career after “The Departed” ($27 million). It should also not be forgotten that “Killers of the Flower Moon” is an Apple production – so it’s quite possible that some Scorsese fans are waiting for the timely release on Apple TV+ so that they can watch the almost three and a half hour long film in their living room at home to incorporate.

Especially since Scorsese’s new work jumped to number one in other markets and past “The Eras Tour”, including Germany, as “Blickpunkt:Film” reports. The drama starring Leonardo DiCaprio (48) and Robert De Niro (80) is the first production by a streaming service to achieve this feat.
