Bavaria starts funding program for smaller rural hospitals – Bavaria

On May 2nd, the Bavarian Ministry of Health will launch a funding program to support smaller hospitals in rural areas. In total, the ministry will invest around 100 million euros over a period of five years (2024 to 2028), it announced on Wednesday.

“Smaller hospitals in particular play an important role in medical care in the area. At the same time, they are particularly affected by the structural changes that are emerging as a result of the federal hospital reform,” said Bavaria’s Health Minister Judith Gerlach (CSU)

The aim of the funding program is to support smaller hospitals in rural areas in defining and implementing necessary adaptation measures. Both structural reports and implementation concepts as well as concrete structural adaptation measures are supported. Applications can now be submitted to the Bavarian State Office for Nursing (LfP).
