For example, the Gemini extensions could help you plan trips with friends by giving the AI access to Gmail histories, which would then search through them for data that fits everyone. The AI can then select suitable flights and hotels and recommend videos with suggestions for things to do at the destination. Gemini can then summarize highlights from this directly in an email to friends.

Access to Gemini should also become easier in the future: Anyone who uses Chrome will soon be able to simply enter @gemini followed by a prompt to the AI to use the AI.

Before you activate the new AI support, it’s worth taking a look Privacy Hub the Gemini apps. There, Google explains, among other things, that you should not include any confidential information or data in chats with the AI that you do not want a Google employee to see. Google uses data from user interactions with AI to improve its products, services and machine learning technologies.

According to the blog post, the linking of apps and services with the Gemini AI can be reversed at any time.

With the Gemini extensions, Google is competing primarily against Microsoft’s Co-Pilot, which also enables links to Office documents and other personal data sets.
