Urban Priol is known for his furious performances. What particularly annoys the cabaret artist – and why he wants to continue to be upset.
Mr. Priol, you have been doing political cabaret for 40 years. Haven’t you become a little more relaxed?
Not at all, I can still be as passionately upset as I used to be! Anger keeps me young; it has accompanied me since the beginning of my work. The potential for excitement is still there. It’s just that the topics change faster than before.
Environmental destruction, speed limits, dual citizenship – many of the issues you are tackling have been with us for decades.
I could get upset again because hardly anything changes. Nevertheless, I carry on. The nice thing is: I can get rid of what bothers me during the day in the evening. Afterwards I feel better.
