Prison boss Vicky White leaves the Alabama prison with an inmate.
Casey Cole White is a convicted murderer.
That doesn’t seem to stop the deputy prison director from releasing the 38-year-old.
Surveillance cameras show the employee driving up in a company car.
Shortly thereafter, at 9:30 a.m., the two leave the prison together.
They are not stopped: White had indicated that he would accompany the inmate to a psychological examination in court.
But in reality, the prison officer and the inmate elope together.
The escape is only noticed after six hours when colleagues try to reach White by phone.
The prison employee had previously signed off from her service because she had a doctor’s appointment.
The fact that the 54-year-old had submitted her retirement documents the day before she disappeared also speaks for a planned escape.
The couple has been on the run since April 29.
The company car was found in the parking lot of a nearby shopping center – but there is no trace of the two.
US authorities have offered $10,000 for tips.
