After “Lupin,” Omar Sy now plays a “French Lover” for Netflix. Filming begins after his jury duty in Cannes.

From tomorrow (May 14th) Omar Sy (46) will be a member of the jury at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Frenchman will also be busy afterwards. As Variety reports, Netflix has signed the actor to star in the French comedy French Lover. Filming is scheduled to begin on May 27, 2024 in Paris. So two days after Sy and his colleagues on the jury decided on the Palme d’Or.

Omar Sy plays a certain Abel Camara in “French Lover”, who is described in the film’s plot description as the “biggest star of the hour”. He meets Marion, a normal girl next door. Neither of them yet suspects that this will be the beginning of a great love story.

Marion plays Sara Giraudeau (38), who is best known in this country from the series “Office of Legends,” which ran on RTL Crime. Directed by debutante Nina Rives. The producer is Hugo Gélin (44), who directed the comedy “Suddenly Papa” with Omar Sy in 2016.

Omar Sy plays the star of the hour in “French Lover”. In real life, he is actually one of the greatest French actors of today. After his breakthrough in the hit film “Pretty Best Friends” in 2011, the Frenchman also took off internationally and was seen in two “Jurassic World” films.

Omar Sy has been the title character of the Netflix series “Lupin” since 2021; the crook’s play entered its third season in autumn 2023. “French Lover” is scheduled to debut on Netflix in 2025.
