Unterschleißheim – City helps to save energy and saves itself – District of Munich

From the new shower head to adjusting the heating system: more than 30 energy-saving tips came together in response to a call from the town of Unterschleißheim on the Consul citizen participation platform. The city itself has set up an energy working group with its public utilities, which is investigating many savings potentials. The town hall announced that a catalog had already been developed for this purpose. There are short-, medium- and long-term measures, some of which have already been implemented. And the city library lends out a measuring device free of charge that shows the power consumption of electrically operated devices. So-called energy-saving packages are available there at the information desk.

The consumption of municipal properties including street lighting was around 9000 megawatt hours in Unterschleißheim in 2020. According to the energy utilization plan, the annual final energy requirement for the whole of Unterschleißheim – i.e. private individuals, companies and the city with all its facilities – amounted to a total of 744,000 megawatt hours. According to the town hall, about two percent of this was for public properties and street lighting. Suggestions for saving energy can still be found at https://consul.unterschleissheim.de/energiesparen or submitted to City Hall by post. All ideas can then be viewed online on Consul.
