Unterföhring deletes parking spaces – district of Munich

If the mobility revolution is to come, it must be implemented in the individual cities and communities. Unterföhring is now taking a step in this direction. The municipality wants to reorganize and redistribute the public parking space in the commercial area east of the S-Bahn line. In doing so, she sets clear accents: 84 of the previous parking spaces for cars on the streets will be eliminated, but in future there will be more space for bicycles; the municipality is also building additional charging stations for electric cars.

The concept, which the planning company Stadt, Land, Verkehr, Munich developed for Unterföhring, aims to move long-term and long-term parkers to the publicly accessible municipal car park on Dieselstrasse and the municipal underground car park on Jahnstrasse at the Bürgerfestplatz, thereby freeing up the street space for short-term parkers up to three hours, customers of local companies and cyclists free. In total, parking facilities for around 240 bicycles are to be built.

In addition, the two MVG rental bike stations on Dieselstraße and Jahnstraße will be expanded; so if you want to continue driving from the parking garage, you can do so with a rental bike. E-bikes can be charged at an estimated 15 stations, and there will be twelve new quick charging points in the street for electrically powered cars. There are also 13 centrally located parking spaces for people with disabilities.

The western part of Medienallee and Gutenbergstrasse are initially excluded from the concept. Pro 7 Sat 1 Media AG is currently building its new campus there.
