The traffic light coalition argues particularly loudly about how much market and how much welfare state there should be. That’s right, because the mixture has to be rebalanced again and again.
Those who complain about “the economy” have often not understood that “the economy” does not exist – at least not in the form of an isolated world of its own. “The economy” doesn’t mean those at the top, but everyone together: workers and employees, the self-employed, entrepreneurs, founders, researchers and customers. The social market economy is an idea of order for the entire society: the state sets the framework, companies and consumers make free decisions within the set rules – anyone who stumbles is caught by a social network.
