Signature in the evening, first training the morning after. Robin Gosens should get an impression of what it feels like to be a professional footballer at 1. FC Union Berlin.

It could hardly have been staged better: the new iron gets a good twelve hours after the announcement of the transfer coup Robin Gosens a foretaste of the Försterei feeling.

1. FC Union Berlin scheduled a public training session today. Admission is from 10.00 a.m., the unit starts at 10.30 a.m. “Due to the expected large number of visitors during the holiday season”, Union had already announced on Monday, one day before Gosens was committed.

Gosen’s anticipation

The Bundesliga was his dream, with 1. FC Union Gosens makes it come true. He comes from Inter Milan, was only a backup player there, but even reached the final of the Champions League with Inter. “Now I’m looking forward to the new challenge and an extraordinary and exciting season,” said Gosens in the club’s announcement late Tuesday evening.

The left-back can look forward to the Champions League, the DFB Cup and the Bundesliga season. Coach Urs Fischer’s team has improved every year since promotion in May 2019. Eleventh in the inaugural season, followed by seventh, fifth, and fourth. The league starts on Sunday with a home game against FSV Mainz 05.

Another national player coming?

Union’s course is clear: a squad for the tough challenges and heavy workloads. Professional football managing director Oliver Ruhnert has always managed not only to keep the balance with quite a few departures, but also to improve the squad. And Fischer managed to form a team out of it that literally embodies the virtues of the irons – passion, struggle and commitment.

In Gosens another player with more international experience is now added. And as the broadcaster Sky reported, it shouldn’t stop there. Union should also be interested in 15-time international Kevin Volland, and there should already be an agreement between the Berliners and AS Monaco.
