After the fatal car explosion in front of a clinic, more and more details come to light. The suspect who died in the detonation was apparently a rejected asylum seeker.

According to a report, the person allegedly responsible for the explosion of a taxi in Liverpool was a rejected asylum seeker.

The BBC reported, citing court statements, that the suspect who was killed in the explosion had previously appealed his rejected asylum application. It remained unclear whether the British Home Office had tried to expel the man from the country. According to the report, the decision could have been several years ago.

In the detonation and the subsequent fire in a taxi in Liverpool on Sunday, the passenger was killed. According to the police, the man carried the self-made explosive device with him. He had previously been taken to a women’s clinic. The taxi driver was able to get to safety in good time. The police classify the incident as terrorism.

British Home Secretary Priti Patel said the Daily Mail said the Liverpool case showed how “dysfunctional and broken” the British asylum system was in the past and why she wanted to change it. The alleged perpetrator used it like a “carousel”.

The Church of England has also come into focus with the fall of Liverpool. According to the Telegraph, the church is accused of helping asylum seekers in part by agreeing to a conversion that could increase the chances of asylum. According to the BBC, the Liverpool attacker was a Middle Eastern man who converted to Christianity in 2017.
