A court in London has sentenced the killer of British Tory MP Amess to life in prison. The IS supporter had stabbed the politician during his citizens’ consultation hour. At the trial he showed no remorse.
A 26-year-old has been sentenced to spend the rest of his life in prison for the murder of British MP David Amess. Judge Nigel Sweeney of London’s Old Bailey Criminal Court said it was the right decision that the man had no chance of parole.

He was found guilty on Monday of stabbing the Tory MP to death in October 2021 during a citizens’ consultation in his constituency in the southeast English county of Essex. The act had caused horror across the country and triggered a new debate about the safety of MPs.
The 26-year-old is considered a lone Islamist and supporter of the Islamic State (IS) terrorist militia. He says he committed the murder to avenge Amess’s approval of airstrikes on Syria in 2014 and 2015. During the trial, he showed no remorse.
