Uhrmacherhäusl: Trial against monetary charges temporarily discontinued – Munich

In the trial surrounding the demolition of the listed Uhrmacherhäusl, the Munich I Regional Court temporarily discontinued the proceedings against investor Andreas S. on Friday on suspicion of damaging property in a manner that was harmful to the community in return for a fine of 100,000 euros. The presiding judge of the 16th Criminal Chamber had already made this suggestion at the beginning of the appeal process at the beginning of the month.

However, the defense attorney for Andreas S., who purchased the Uhrmacherhäusl in 2016 for 650,000 euros, explained that his goal was to get his client acquitted. The funding goes to the Monument Protection Foundation and the state treasury. The co-defendant building contractor who demolished the watchmaker’s house with an excavator has announced that he will withdraw his appeal against the first instance verdict.

Despite the discontinuation of the proceedings, Andreas S. is still obliged, according to the ruling of the Bavarian Administrative Court, to rebuild the Uhrmacherhäusl in its old form.
