Dina Boluarte experienced a very difficult trip on Saturday. The president of Peru was attacked by two women during an official event in the Andean city of Ayacucho, where ten people died in December 2022 during protests against her government.
The attack took place while Dina Boluarte was helping lay the foundation stone of a road in the Chiara district of Ayacucho, some 570 kilometers southeast of the capital Lima.

The ministerial chief of staff, Alberto Otarola, condemned an “extremely serious” attack which “endangered the integrity of the head of state” on the social network X.
The president was returning to Ayacucho for the first time since protests against her across the country left around 50 people dead, around 20 of whom were believed to have been killed by state forces, according to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights. (IACHR).
