Two new police officers were injured at the Nîmes detention center. This is the second assault in less than 15 days at the detention center. It follows other violence against the police in the department, in recent days, in Alès in particular.
Alerted by the police unions, Senator Laurent Burgoa (LR) sent a letter to the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin, to ask him for reinforcements.
Rebellion of a man placed in solitary confinement
At the detention center, an 18-year-old young adult is accused of physically attacking officials. A scuffle had broken out earlier in the day between inmates. Two of them had been placed in solitary confinement.
It was while visiting them that the attack occurred. The man would have physically attacked the three police officers who came to meet him. Two of them were injured, in the arcade and in the nose, and had to be taken to hospital.
