Bayern want to bring in Ralf Rangnick – even if he wasn’t the first preferred candidate. Former Bundesliga manager Bruchhagen doesn’t see any flaw in this.

Former Bundesliga official Heribert Bruchhagen assumes that Ralf Rangnick will not let the club bosses interfere with his work when he becomes a Bayern coach.

The football record champions want to hire the 65-year-old as a coach – it will be exciting to see how the veteran, who is considered to be obsessed with control, will deal with the opinionated club leaders around Uli Hoeneß. In the past, the honorary president has often intervened in the coaches’ football matters and welcomed people to his house on Lake Tegernsee.

“I don’t think Ralf Rangnick is going to Tegernsee. Maybe for a coffee, but definitely not for tactical advice. Ralf already knows what he wants,” said former Frankfurt and Hamburg manager Bruchhagen to “Münchner Merkur/tz ” (Saturday). “He’s confident, full stop. He has his own ideas, he’ll implement them. We’ll have to wait and see how they work.”

The Munich team is looking for a successor for Thomas Tuchel, who has to leave the club early in the summer. Because Bayern’s preferred candidate Xabi Alonso prefers to stay in Leverkusen and national coach Julian Nagelsmann does not return to Säbener Straße, some experts only see Rangnick as an emergency solution. Bruchhagen replied: “A Ralf Rangnick is never a plan B! This is a man with a wealth of experience who doesn’t have to feel like a B candidate. He is an A candidate.”
