Saturday March 12, around 4:30 a.m., two off-duty gendarmes were attacked in the middle of Place des Terreaux (Lyon 1), reports Lyon Mag. They were leaving a party when they were accosted by three individuals. One of them tried to steal the chain that one of the gendarmes was wearing around his neck.
As he tried to defend himself, the three individuals sprayed them with tear gas and then beat them while they were on the ground. An attacker stole the watch of one of his victims before fleeing with his accomplices. One of them will be arrested later thanks to video surveillance.
The gendarmes, who did not state their profession to the attackers, were transported to the hospital, where they were notified of three days of ITT. One of them suffers from head trauma. They filed a complaint; an investigation is underway to find the other attackers.
