With Stefan Raab as the presenter, “TV Total” became a cult program on Pro Sieben. After a six-year break, the format is now set to come back on television, but Raab will not be the host.

Six years after the last “TV Total” broadcast, Pro Sieben’s cult show returns to television. According to media reports from “DWDL”, “Bild” and “t-online”, Stefan Raab will no longer be the presenter of the show, but instead will be the show’s producer with his company Raab TV. The new moderator will therefore be the cabaret artist Sebastian Pufpaff.

According to “Bild”, the test broadcast that has already been recorded will be broadcast on Wednesday at 8:15 pm. The original with Raab was only broadcast as a late night show in the late evening program. So far nothing is known about the length of the test broadcast. In contrast to the original, which was broadcast from Monday to Thursday, the new show will have a fixed slot on Wednesday evening. A confirmation from Pro Sieben about the broadcast next Wednesday is still pending. The station is currently still running the series “Young Sheldon” in its prime time program.

“TV Total”: cult program over 16 years in late-night format

With “TV Total” in 1999, Stefan Raab created the longest-running late-night format on German television. The now 55-year-old was joking about 2303 on German screens and delighted an audience of millions and repeatedly welcomed star guests such as Will Smith, Rihanna and Til Schweiger. With special formats such as “TV Total Turmspringen” and the Wok World Cup, Raab also created additional ratings for the private broadcaster. After the show ended six years ago, Raab largely withdrew from the public.

Sebastian Pufpaff is best known for his TV format “Pufpaffs Happy Hour” on 3Sat. In addition, the 45-year-old was regularly in front of the camera for the “heute show”. This year Pufpaff received an award for his program “Not yet shift”, which he recorded from March 2020 to June 2021. The format produced for ZDF and 3Sat each lasted seven minutes and was recorded in Pufpaff’s study without guests.
