After I had handed in the last column, my wonderful editor and translator Marie wrote back to me: “This is exactly what Germans dream about New York! The Film Forum! How I would love to go there again one day.” I was sure as I was writing the column that no one would be interested in my summary of a bad date, the ensuing series of public transit disasters and a 24-hour stomach flu. I also didn’t expect that a possible reaction could be: Wow, wouldn’t it be nice to go to the Film Forum?
