“Top Chef”: “People who criticize the candidates, I want to tell them: “Dose! » »

The MOFs? Well, for Victor. The candidate was eliminated at the end of the fifth episode of Top chef, an exceptional program where the candidates had to face, and seduce, the MOFs, the best workers in France. It was therefore after very technical tests that Victor was eliminated, before losing to Danny, undisputed champion of the secret brigade.

Victor delivers his impressions to 20 minutes.

When you learn of your elimination, you remain stoic while Leo is very moved…

We had time to become very close so there was emotion. You have to understand that for days, we lived together, we slept together, we took the tests together… It brings us a lot closer.

Yes, but he is saved, not you. And he’s the one crying…

I’m a calm person, I don’t show my emotions. Sometimes I know it comes across as nonchalance, but that’s how I am, very detached, and I’m often seen as insensitive. At the time of my elimination, Leo expressed what I internalized, he shows what I feel.

And in the kitchen, did you feel like you could show your personality?

Yes and no. I’m pretty happy with my journey. I’m not in the “Great!” mood. I have succeeded in my life” but I am still very proud. And at the same time, I’m a little disappointed not to have done more individual tests to show my personality in the kitchen, my creativity even more.

Do you feel like you learned from the experience Top chef » ?

Yes of course. But even before the start of the show. People don’t realize that being selected for Top chef it’s already a great victory, which requires a lot of work, sacrifices. You really have to respect everyone on this show, even those who are eliminated at the premiere!

Do you feel that is not the case?

Let’s say some comments on social media make me think that viewers don’t respect all contestants. There are, however, criticisms that hurt. Critics are part of the game but some can be hurtful. The people who criticize the candidates on social networks, I want to tell them: “Dose! “I haven’t been criticized too much, but when I see people making fun of Albane, for his personality and more, not even for his cooking, it sucks. She’s a great friend too…

Top chef » is also an opportunity to highlight rather atypical chef careers. Do you think you can create vocations with your example?

I hope. I come from the countryside, I grew up in Mayenne, in a family environment of salespeople and bankers, far removed from cooking and manual trades. At first, things went badly with my father. I had no choice, to assume my choice, I had to aim for excellence. I didn’t go to a great cooking school. I did not know the training in palaces. But I got there anyway!

Do you think “Top Chef” will change your career?

Oh yes. I have a lot of work, it opens a lot of doors this show! I never considered Top chef as an end but as a springboard, a means to advance in my objectives. This visibility is an incredible opportunity. For example, the banks hear more from us when we do Top chef, they are listening to our projects… I can only fall back on that since I didn’t win! (laughs).

Do you have a restaurant opening project?

Not immediately. I have pop-up restaurant projects, street food operations, the Caesar salad we made with Léo… What’s great is that people will be able to taste my cooking, I’ll try to find my audience .
