Titanic: Paul-Henry Nargeolet piloted the missing submersible – panorama

Frenchman Paul-Henry Nargeolet has visited the wreck more than 30 times titanic, the first time in 1987 during one of the first expeditions to the sunken steamer. More than 30 dives, more than 100 hours in such deep waters (the wreck lies at a depth of 3803 meters) – and the 77-year-old always came back. So far it is not clear if it will be the same this time, because the former navy diver is one of the five men on board the submersible Titanium, who lost contact with them on Sunday afternoon and who have been sought after since then. A spokesman for the family confirmed Nargeolet’s identity on Tuesday after reports from US broadcaster CNN he was the pilot of the missing vehicle.
