Gilles Simeoni is President of Corsica – BLONDET-POOL / SIPA
The outgoing president of the Corsican executive, the autonomist Gilles Simeoni, is a short head ahead of the united right-wing list invested by The Republicans Laurent Marcangeli, during the first round of regional elections in Corsica, according to estimates by Ipsos / Sopra Steria for France Télévisions, Radio France and The Parliamentary Channel.
Gilles Simeoni would obtain 28% of the vote, against 24.9% for the mayor of Ajaccio Laurent Marcangeli. The nationalist list of the mayor of Porto-Vecchio Jean-Christophe Angelini would for its part be credited with 14.3%, according to the same survey.
