Thomas Brail and two other opponents embark on a dangerous thirst strike

He does what he says. Thomas Brail, leader of the National Tree Surveillance Group (GNSA), has been on a thirst strike since this Monday at 2 p.m. after already 39 days of hunger strike. At his side, in front of the premises of the Ministry of Transport in Paris, Reva and Celik, two other activists who have also been on hunger strike for weeks. They are demanding, again and again, the cessation of work on the A69 which should link Toulouse to Castres.

Their last interview with the president of the Region (PS) Carole Delga and representatives of the Ministry of Ecological Transition did not meet the expectations of the La collective The Way is Clear and the GNSA, the strikers continue their fight. Of the fourteen opponents in total who have stopped eating for weeks, three are now forbidding themselves from drinking in the hope of moving the lines.

Friday, the appeal filed in summary proceedings by the anti-A69 was rejected by the administrative court of Toulouse. This decision made the situation even more tense. “In the land of human rights, I hope that we are not going to let a man die for his ideas,” declared Thomas Brail immediately, from the Pink City.

This Monday morning, in the same press release, the government, the Occitanie region and the Tarn departmental council called “to avoid a tragedy” while reiterating that the A69 was perfectly legal.

As a reminder, a man cannot live without drinking for more than three days. The strikers were already physically very weak, “for us in a day and a half, it was over,” explains Thomas on the Instagram of Vakita media.
