So long Bubble. At the end of last week, residents of Saint-Quentin, in Aisne, had the unpleasant surprise of being robbed. An experience that can be traumatic, especially since in their case, the damage is not only material. According to the Departmental Directorate of Public Security (DDSP), the thieves notably left with the goldfish of their victims.
The beginning of this case was very classic. Individuals who enter the garden of a house, break into the garden shed and seize the tools stored there. Trivial after all, especially with the approach of summer when such objects are selling like hotcakes on the Internet.
“We also often see vegetable thefts”
When they realized that intruders had just robbed them, the victims walked around the owner to check that only the garden shed had been visited. It was then that they discovered the unthinkable: in the pond set up in this same garden, most of the fish that flowed there on happy days had also disappeared.
For the police, there is no doubt that it is the same people. But what was their plan? Mystery. “We are in a department which is very hard hit by the social crisis and we also often see the theft of vegetables from the gardens, not to resell them, but to consume them”, explains to 20 minutes a police source at the DDSP of Aisne. Is this the fate that awaits goldfish victims? There is also the hypothesis of alcoholic thieves, says the same source. Not sure that bodes well for fish either.
