The shocking series “The Underground Railroad” on Prime Video
After the multi-award Moonlight (including the Oscar for best film in 2017), then more recently If Beale Street could speak, director Barry Jenkins returns with the series The Underground Railroad. Adapted from the eponymous novel by Colson Whitehead (Pulitzer Prize in 2017), the story focuses on the flight of a young slave at the end of the 19th century in the United States, a few years before the Civil War. Over the course of the ten episodes, we follow the fights and the quest of Cora Randall (played by the actress Thuso Mbedu), who after having escaped from a plantation in Georgia, tries to join an “underground railroad” who could guide her to freedom. Another series adapted from a novel, The Innocent has been available since the end of April on Netflix. This is the 4th adaptation of a book by American author Harlan Coben, with whom the platform has signed a contract for 14 of his works. The pitch of this new series in eight episodes? During a student party, Mateo (Mario Casas), the main character, unintentionally kills a young man during a fight, a murder for which he is sentenced to four years in prison. When he leaves, he tries to rebuild his life with Olivia (Aura Garrido), with whom he will have a child. But the young woman’s past and a new murder will catch up with the couple …
Arte celebrates 40 years of Indy
