Rammstein concert in Dresden ended earlier – “green philistinism”?

Rammstein fans are not used to this: In Dresden, the rockers around Till Lindemann have to leave the stage earlier than originally planned. Why is that?

The rock band Rammstein will have to leave the stage at the four concerts in Dresden’s Flutrinne this week at 10 p.m. at the latest – and therefore earlier than at the last concerts of the tour. A city spokeswoman told the “Sächsische Zeitung” that the concert organizer for singer Till Lindemann’s troupe had “brought the concerts forward by an hour, contrary to original plans.” The reason is noise protection from 10 p.m.

Green city councilor Susanne Krause welcomes the decision. After all, the Rammstein concerts are usually exceptionally loud and “the school children in the young districts of Friedrichstadt and Pieschen can’t just sleep a little longer,” Krause told the “Sächsische Zeitung”.

Holger Zastrow, however, called the town hall’s guidelines a “new outgrowth of green philistinism”. Zastrow would therefore have nothing against a Rammstein concert until midnight.

200,000 people want to see Rammstein in Dresden

Around 200,000 fans are expected these days for the four concerts on Wednesday evening, Thursday and at the weekend on the open-air area at the Dresden Trade Fair in the Flutrinne. While the hotels are almost fully booked and the city’s shops are looking forward to the rush, the noise of the concerts is causing concern for some Dresden residents.

The loud concerts have been discussed vehemently in recent days in a Facebook post by the city that was intended to provide information about the traffic restrictions. One user wrote: “But there are residents who are not asked whether they would like to have sound and still have to get up at 3 a.m..” The most popular response was a simple “Move to the village.”

The city promised that Dresden nights would be “just as quiet as ever” because of the noise regulations.
