Nuremberg has often gone down in history, and one would certainly have liked to have avoided a lexical entry twelve months ago – even if the city emerged as the winner of a competition. In 2022, the State Association for Homeland Preservation awarded the title “Demolition of the Year” for the first time and the corresponding crown was awarded to Nuremberg, even if the partial demolition of a historic cycle track was only imminent. Initiatives had already campaigned for its preservation, but the title gave it a boost, and there is still a struggle to continue the demolition today.
