The proportion of women in the Bavarian state parliament is pitifully low – Bavaria

The new state parliament has become younger and less academic, which is a little more in keeping with Bavarian society than before. But only a quarter of MPs are female. Once again proof that equality is not far off.

The new state parliament is again not a reflection of society. There are too few young and old people in parliament, too few people with a migrant background, and too many academics to represent the Bavarian people as they are actually composed. Although a lot has changed. The new state parliament has become younger, with an average age of 50, and more people without a university degree are represented. The only thing that hasn’t improved at all is the proportion of women and that’s really pathetic.
