King Charles III makes a surprise appearance at the Royal Windsor Horse Show. For once, his wife Camilla is not at his side.

Surprise visit from King Charles III (75) on the third day of the Royal Windsor Horse Show – not only the monarch was happy, but also his niece, Zara Tindall (42). Princess Anne’s daughter, 73, beamed as she met her royal relative at the event in Berkshire. A deep hug followed.

The monarch also looked visibly delighted during the unscheduled visit to the horse show as he chatted with officials under umbrellas in the pouring rain, wrapped in a long beige parka.

Charles was traveling without Camilla

Only one person was missing this time: Queen Camilla (76), who had dutifully held the fort during the King’s cancer treatment in recent weeks. She did not accompany him to this regular appointment in the royal calendar.

Other royals attended the show, which takes place from May 1st to 5th, including Prince Edward (60) and his wife Sophie (59) as well as Princess Anne and her husband Vice Admiral Sir Timothy Laurence (69). During her lifetime, the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) often took part in the event as a spectator.

King Charles returns to public life

Observers praise King Charles’ surprising appearance at the exhibition according to “Mail Online” as another good sign that his health is improving and he continues to respond well to treatment. He had only returned to public life this week and was the first to visit patients at the Macmillan Cancer Center at University College Hospital in London.

At another appointment on Wednesday, Charles viewed his coronation roll at Buckingham Palace and also received King Letsie of Lesotho (60) for an audience.
