For Dieudonné, this is not a first. A show is once again banned. This time, it was the Haut-Rhin prefecture which sounded the death knell for its performance scheduled for this Friday in Mulhouse. A show announced on its website and entitled: “Under bracelet: an extraordinary show”. The precise location of the performance was kept secret, it having to be revealed only a few hours before the start of the show to people who had purchased a ticket, the website specified.
This Thursday, Thierry Queffélec, prefect of Haut-Rhin, justified this decision in a press release. He recalls that Dieudonné has “been the subject of numerous criminal convictions for having made Holocaust denial speeches and inciting racial hatred”. He continues: “Given a local context that is particularly sensitive to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and its consequences on public order”, he prohibits the representation of this show “on the entire territory of Haut-Rhin by prefectural decree of the October 25, 2023.”
