THE “vital prognosis” of one of the two police officers injured by bullet in the police station of 13e district of Paris by a man arrested “is still engaged”declared the Paris police prefect, Laurent Nuñez, Friday May 10 in the morning on Franceinfo.
Mr. Nuñez explained that the police officers from 13e district intervened Thursday evening for a “extremely violent attack with a cutter on a woman who was seriously injured”. “The man was obviously very excited”, he said. The police took him to the police station and made him blow into a breathalyzer. It was at this moment that the man grabbed an official’s weapon, continued the prefect.
The events took place on Thursday shortly before 10:30 p.m. at the time of the search of the man who had just been arrested. He grabbed a civil servant’s weapon and fired, seriously injuring two police officers. He himself was seriously injured in the chest by return fire, without his life being in danger, according to the Paris prosecutor’s office.
Three open investigations
Regarding the profile of the perpetrator of the shooting, Laurent Nuñez did not provide any information, referring to ongoing investigations. “We don’t know if he knew the woman [qu’il a agressée] »he said, adding that the police officers called to the scene had to “break down the door” of the appartment.

The prosecution opened three investigations, two of which were entrusted to the 3e regional directorate of the judicial police of the Paris Police Prefecture – one for “attempted murder of the woman”, the other for “attempted murder of persons holding public authority”.
The third investigation was entrusted to the general inspection of the national police (the “font of fonts”) for “intentional violence with a weapon by a person holding public authority”, as is always the case when a police officer uses his weapon.
