Moto3 Q2: Now it counts

There have already been ten different pole setters this Moto3 season. Will there be an eleventh in today’s last qualifying session of the year? We’ll know more in 15 minutes.

12:54 p.m

Moto3 Q1: These four are through

Sasaki’s best session time remains unchallenged. Behind them, Masia Munoz can still displace third place. However, that doesn’t really help him. Because at this moment the message comes that he and Toba have to start from the pit lane because of their collision and the subsequent scuffle.

Masia moves in in Q2 anyway. Carraro was the last to make the subsequent jump, taking fourth place with his early best time.

12:50 p.m

Moto3 Q1: Last chance

Sasaki and Munoz pitted early and let it go. The rest is going on the last round at this moment. Can anyone else add it?

12:48 p.m

Moto3 Q1: Second run

Back on the track, the pace picks up. Sasaki takes the lead with a time of 1:38.857 minutes. Munoz moves up to second place. Carraro and Kelso hold the remaining Q2 spots.

The last few minutes are running and people are strolling around again. Nobody wants to be the draft horse. The drivers almost come to a standstill, pull off the track and wait. The race management doesn’t like that at all.

12:42 p.m

Moto3 Q1: standings

Another pilot crashed with wildcard starter Farioli. It hit him at turn 2. Some have already turned back to the pits. The preliminary order: Carraro, Sasaki, Kelso and Masia. According to the current status, they would be one lap further.

12:40 p.m

Moto3 Q1: Quite a fall

Adrian Fernandez crashed at Turn 11 early in the session and has to stop chasing times for now. The others mark their first lap times. Cararro leads with 1:39.268 minutes and takes the lead.

12:36 p.m

Moto3 Q1: Who goes through?

The Moto3 heralds this qualifying afternoon. First up are those drivers who didn’t make it straight into Q2. Sasaki, Masia and Toba, among others, are struggling to progress after their falls in the FT3. In the case of Masia and Toba, however, a penalty is still to be expected after the two collided.

Lopez and Dixon complete the top five, followed by Aldeguer, Ogura, Dalla Pporta, Arenas and Beaubier. Pasini, Alcoba, Salac and Chantra are the last to move straight into Q2. Schrötter is 16th in front of Vietti. So both have to do it later in Q1.

11:35 a.m

Moto2 FT3: Tight field

The distances in the field are extremely narrow. Vietti is currently seven tenths behind in 14th place. Personal improvements are still flashing in the time monitor. Vietti is therefore not certain. The last attempts are running.

11:30 a.m

Moto2 FT3: Ajo duo ahead again

And Lopez’ best time is history again. Fernandez and also Acosta pass. Only 0.128 seconds separate the top 3. Aldeguer, who is fourth, is three and a half tenths behind the Ajo double lead.

11:29 a.m

Moto2 FT3: It’s getting faster

Roberts fell a second time. This should definitely be the end of the session for him. Lopez, meanwhile, sets a new personal best of 1:34.786 minutes. And Canet can also improve. He is new fourth behind the Ajo-Duo. Ogura holds fifth place.

11:26 a.m

Moto2 FT3: Schrötter fights

The track fills up again for the last ten minutes. Schrötter can improve and moves up to 14th place in the overall standings. That would put him straight into Q2, but he is in the ejection seat. Surely that won’t be enough.

11:20 a.m

Moto2 FT3: standings

The box is currently on the box. The order in this session sees Fernandez ahead of Acosta and Ogura. Behind them are Pasini, Salac, Dixon, Aldeguer, Lopez, Arbolino and Arenas.

Only a handful of riders haven’t been able to improve on yesterday. According to the current status, Canet, Chantra, Alcoba and Beaubier would be the last four in the overall standings, moving directly into Q2.

11:17 a.m

Moto2 FT3: Championship leader in front

Fernandez followed suit and passed Acosta in the classification with a time of 1:34.903 minutes. The two Ajo pilots have been the measure of all things so far.
