Decorative trend: a contrasting spring summer 2024 season
The minimalism that has reigned supreme in our interiors for several seasons now is still relevant as the spring/summer season approaches.
Bright neutral colors and natural materials remain safe values. In this very refined setting, we strive to highlight the materials: light textiles such as cotton or linen, of course, but also beautiful wood species. And we add a mineral touch, by opting for marble or travertine.
The vintage look itself is in tune. And if the 60s/70s and 80s still inspire us, we favor vintage minimalist decor over a riot of patterns and color. A great opportunity to showcase our most beautiful antique pieces. Because second-hand furniture and decoration are now essential, and we count on them to create a durable and truly unique interior.
Colors and patterns have not yet said their last word – quite the contrary! And although the minimalist style still appeals, it sees serious competition from a more extravagant trend. Country or retro: the floral print is one of the must-haves of the season. From the tablecloth to the printed duvet, including curtains, cushions or wallpaper, it’s quite simple: it’s everywhere.
More minimalist, stripes are also one of the prints that bring decor to life this season. If they take center stage, the checkerboard pattern also remains very present.
Driven by the craze for the vintage look, chrome is making a notable comeback. We are more likely to fall for all materials with a stainless steel/silver finish. If you fear a lack of taste, opt for the timeless glass and chrome table in the dining room, or its version as a living room table. The alternative is the silver end table, which works just as well in the living room as it can be used as a bedside table.
The vintage country atmosphere is also on the rise. Canework and rattan thus remain very trendy.
On the design side, we round the corners. Sofas, chairs or sideboards display soft lines. The trend is also making its way into the kitchen, where the worktop and island take on curves.
Finally, if you are planning to revamp the bathroom, kitchen, bedroom or living room, the good idea is to favor texture over pure color. And this year we find lime and decorative coatings, which were already in the news last year.
Spring summer 2024: the round of colors
If bright neutrals still constitute the preferred palette of the minimalist interior, the season gives pride of place to color.
After experiencing a few years of disenchantment, pastels are becoming ultra-trendy again. Powder pink, ice blue and soft yellow are among the shades that lead the way. However, it is the lilac color that wins all the votes.
In the wake of lilac, we see the reappearance of lavender this season, which comes in light to very dark intensities.
To bring more relief to pastel colors, we rely on nuances of character by opting for rich colors. And we are seeing the reappearance of delicious shades such as plum color or blackcurrant color. We also dare to use vibrant colors, indigo blue in the lead.
The key color of the season, however, is green – with a clear predilection for sage green. Think of the association with Peach Fuzz, Pantone 2024 color, which gently warms our interiors.
Trendy decor: the essentials of the spring summer 2024 season
Looking for the piece that wakes up your interior, without changing everything? Shop one of the season’s key accessories.
Even during the spring-summer season, the rug remains essential to add style to the decor. And this season, he promises to get noticed. Forget the very simple model, and prefer a piece displaying a strong pattern.
The essential to spruce up the library or the living room table? The dolomite vase, with a very wise or asymmetrical design!
For our summer tables, we pull out all the stops. If colored glasses and slip pieces remain real “must haves”, it is the plates that attract all eyes. Very plain stoneware tends to give way to pieces with a more refined look. And we particularly love the combination of white and blue, which is reminiscent of porcelain.
This season, we are paying particular attention to the layout of the garden furniture. The piece to have is the coffee table. To stick with trends, opt for a mineral material: cement, terrazzo or ceramic.
