The day after the publication of a column in support of Gérard Depardieu, Yannis Ezziadi, his co-author, deplored on BFMTV a “climate of terror” at the origin of the “lynching” of the 74-year-old actor.
Obscene remarks that “make you laugh”. This Tuesday, December 26 on BFMTV, Yannis Ezziadi, actor and columnist for the far-right magazine Causeur, spoke in the column in support of Gérard Depardieu, published the day before in the Figaro and signed by 56 personalities from the world of culture.
With his colleague Michel Fau, the 32-year-old actor decided to write this column to denounce the “lynching” suffered by Gérard Depardieu after the broadcast of a report by Further investigation on France 2, where “the last sacred monster of cinema” multiplies misogynistic and insulting remarks, targeting women and even a little girl.
“The images from the Additional Investigation are not a problem. These images made me laugh. They are Gallic jokes,” he assured us on our channel.
Even if he recognizes that Gérard Depardieu’s remarks can be “shocking”, Yannis Ezziadi confided: “I make these kinds of jokes to my mother.”
“Men are afraid”
The column, signed by Nathalie Baye, Pierre Richard and Gérard Darmon, also denounces the “torrent of hatred which pours out on his person (…) in defiance of a presumption of innocence from which he would have benefited, like any other everyone, if he wasn’t the giant of cinema that he is.”
Gérard Depardieu is the target of three complaints for rape and sexual assault, indicted in one of the cases and was accused by more than ten women in an investigation published by Mediapart. Presumed innocent, he completely denies the accusations.
“There is a climate of terror that has set in,” criticized Yannis Ezziadi. “Men are afraid of having complaints against them, even if they have done nothing.”
Just like Gérard Depardieu, who praised the “very courageous” act of the signatories, he also praised the “audacity” of the artists who signed the platform. “They have nothing to be ashamed of otherwise they would avoid getting into this kind of affair.”
While feminist associations regret the absence of mention of the complainants in the forum, the 32-year-old actor added that he had “no victim to complain about”. “Gérard Depardieu is presumed innocent. For the moment, there are no victims.”
